Wates Construction has completed a new build senior living residential scheme for Audley Retirement, an extension to their existing retirement village in rural Kintbury near Hungerford, Berkshire.
33 residential plots split between six blocks. 9 two bedroomed cottages and 24 two bedroomed apartments constructed in two and three-storey blocks. - This contract was negotiated with Audley Retirement following the financial collapse of the original contractor that they appointed. When Wates arrived on site the project was running three weeks behind the original handover date. We aimed to challenge sub-contractors at procurement stage but also help them by effective logistics management so that successful delivery of a quality build was achieved for the client. We successfully completed this project on time, without further delay for the client
- Trussed timber roof with substantial amount of cut timber to fit the bespoke hip roof design. Steep (40 degree pitch in places) with some of the rafters were over 10m high in places. Innovative safety proceedures implemented to enable us to safely carry out this phase of construction.
- Ground source heat pump recommended and installed.
