Contract start

In July 2022, we began a retrofit project with Stonewater, after they took the decision to decarbonise a number of their least energy efficient homes.

The homes targeted by Stonewater were mainly off-grid properties situated in rural areas and were improved through a mix of self-funding and £1m of external funding received through Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 1.

During the project, we will be taking a fabric first approach to install a mix of insulation measures along with new windows and doors. These works will improve these properties from Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) D or below to a minimum of EPC C.

To increase efficiency and reduce disruption to residents, we will also be carrying out a range of other planned maintenance works alongside the energy saving improvements. These include installing new kitchen and bathroom upgrades, draft proofing, smoke alarm upgrades and pitched roof replacements (for installation of solar PV).

Providing clients and their residents with homes that help reduce fuel poverty through the installation of traditional and innovative carbon reduction technologies is vital in the current climate as fuel costs rise. We are delighted to be working with Stonewater to support them through their housing retrofit journey.”
