A greener built environment

We collaborate with our supply chain partners to deliver on our sustainability targets, which will bring long-term social, economic and environmental benefits through our procurement activities.

Our target is for 89% of our suppliers to have approved Science Based Targets (SBTi) by 2027. Wates will work closely with our suppliers to support them in achieving this target. We also encourage all our suppliers to partner with the Supply Chain Sustainability School, who are able to facilitate free training and workshops to help improve knowledge and understanding of sustainability topics.

We have a clear and consistent approach to the way we engage with our supply chain, as we understand the importance of developing collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships.

Regular communication, networking events and structured business to business meetings are all part of our supplier relationship management plan.

We host and attend many meet the buyer events, both independently and as part of our partnership with Constructionline.

These allow us to meet local and national supply chain. They also present excellent networking opportunities where we can discuss our strategic priorities and long term goals.

Wates Group have an opportunity for a Supply Chain Coordinator to join Smartspace, our fit out and refurbishment business.The Supply Chain Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the efficient functioning of our supply chain management processes. Working closely with the Supply Chain Manager and other team members, the coordinator will assist in various aspects of supply chain management, procurement, and supplier coordination.This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced construction environment.As our Supply Chain Coordinator, you will: Oversee the assessment of Key Performance Indicators of subcontractors and consultants on-site. Manage performance feedback from our teams in relation to our supply chain. Proactively address concerns raised by stakeholders or suppliers to ensure smooth operations and mitigate project risks. Develop and maintain relationships with our partners to understand capability and capacity Generate comprehensive reports and analyses on various supply chain management metrics, providing valuable insights into supplier financial health, workload distribution, and performance indicators. Use data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions Identify opportunities to streamline and improve supply chain processes. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency. Supporting the SC Manager with delivering regular key business updates to our supply chain Assist, when required, procurement team in issuing of orders. Verify order accuracy and handle discrepancies and communicate order status and updates to relevant teams.
