Our target is for 89% of our suppliers to have approved Science Based Targets (SBTi) by 2027. Wates will work closely with our suppliers to support them in achieving this target. We also encourage all our suppliers to partner with the Supply Chain Sustainability School, who are able to facilitate free training and workshops to help improve knowledge and understanding of sustainability topics.

Procurement & Supply Apprentice

Main Accountabilities:To support the procurement process for supply of goods and services, and collaboration with the Wates supply chain. The role is important for ensuring positive supply relationships and optimal functioning of the procurement and supply team.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the below: Undertake tasks associated with the request for quotation (RFQ) and invitation to tender (ITT) processes. Assist with collection, storage and management of supplier information. Support with purchase ordering and invoicing. Quality assurance, including checking key performance indicators (KPIs) are met and liaison with relevant stakeholders. Utilisation of supplier data to provide an informed view of the supply market. Ensuring that relevant legislation is met by our supply partners. Generally supporting day-to-day procurement processes. Collating of relevant information to report to the wider procurement team and in preparation for internal/external audits. Ensuring all procurement systems and databases are managed, maintained and information is reliable for accurate reporting. Building excellent working relationships with all relevant stakeholders, including peers, colleagues, customers, suppliers and other external stakeholders.Desired skills & Qualities: Good verbal and written communication skills. IT skills including use of Microsoft applications. Attention to detail. Good analytical skills and ability to spot errors within data. Organisation skills. Driven and eager to learn.
