Net zero carbon future

We are experts in zero carbon retrofitting for social housing, guiding our customers every step of the way. Through our net zero carbon retrofit service, Wates Retrofit, we’re working with housing providers to install energy saving measures to homes. This service helps to cut fuel poverty and reduce energy costs. 

We have completed retrofit enhancements at over 3,000 homes so far, supporting residents through these essential works, and driving sizable reductions in their fuel bills.

Roofer

Here at Wates, we have an opportunity for a Roofer to join our Living Space Responsive team within the Skelmersdale area. In this role as a roofer, you will be working in conjunction with one of our existing social housing partners so being able to build rapport with people is key. Key Accountabilities will include: Undertake repair/renewal roofing works Communicate effectively with the scheduler, residents and line manager Work safely and in compliance with Health & Safety and safeguarding requirements Remain up-to-date with technical and legal requirements of skill area Work in partnership with other operatives to complete repairs when required Complete work sheets detailing work undertaken and materials used after each job undertaken, via a PDA We are looking for you to be an experienced roofer and have the skills to deliver small projects and repair work. Ideally you will have experience within the housing maintenance sector, but this is not a must. You will also have relevant trade qualifications (minimum of an NVQ Level 2 and a full UK driving license. To be successful in the role you will be an effective communicator with the ability to problem solve and multitask.

Scheduler

Here at Wates, we have an opportunity for a Scheduler to join our scheduling team in the Swadlincote area. You will be part of the Wates Living Space Responsive team allocating works to several operative’s daily, ensuring productivity and providing a good customer service to our client and residents.Traditionally this is an office-based role working Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm so ideally you will be commutable to Swadlincote area and be comfortable with this schedule. Key Accountabilities will include: Schedule works into diaries for up to 20 operatives daily ensuring diaries are full and immediate attention is given to allocate work to operatives when they become free. Check the system for emergencies and manage within a timely manner to ensure targets are meet Respond to telephone variations by seeking approval from duty surveyor so operatives may continue the site through to completion Arrange inspections for supervisors Provide a high-quality service to our client on a face-to-face basis Working within a team to achieve goals and targets achieving daily targets of a minimum of 60 allocations each day of new ordersWe are looking for you to have relevant experience gained from working in a similar industry and environment ie planning, scheduling, logistics. Construction/property services would be ideal but not a must.To be successful in the role you be an excellent communicator with the ability to problem solve, multi task and work to tight deadlines.Given the nature of this position, you will need to undergo a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) at offer stage. Commercial Administrator

This is an exciting office-based role where you'll be at the heart of our operations, engaging in comprehensive commercial administrative duties and providing vital support to our team across several key contract areas.Key Responsibilities: Produce and send subcontractor pre-works schedule of rates based on supervisors' scope of works. Create scoping and pricing documents for review. Input variations into client systems. Check and process subcontractor applications. Release pre-agreed invoices within our financial system. Track and resolve post-inspection queries. Take new orders, code works from booking sheets, photos, and subcontractor invoices, and pass them to the Quantity Surveyor for final review and client approval. Generate invoices for the client and liaise with their payroll department to ensure timely payment.We are looking for a confident communicator who is highly computer literate (Microsoft suite – Word, Excel, etc.) and extremely organized. While experience in the commercial/maintenance industry is ideal, it is not essential. An understanding of NHF schedule of rates would be advantageous.Given the nature of this position, a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) will be required at the offer stage.
