PART OF AN EIGHT YEAR £300M INVESTMENT FOR BAE
The new SBS facility will provide an off-site logistics operation required to support BAEs marine business.
The main storage area includes wide aisle racking to a height of 12m, open storage for large items of equipment up to 80 tonnes in weight together with two overhead cranes, one with a capacity of 80 tonnes and the other 20 tonnes.
In addition, the development also includes a new high voltage substation, switch room and communications room.

Providing substantial programme benefits and cost savings
Utilising detailed geotechnical analysis and long term differential settlement modelling we were able to provide BAE with an engineered foundation solution to accommodate the imposed loads and predicted long term settlements.
The project was designed in full compliance with BIM level 2 requirements with the whole design team working in a fully federated 3D model under the lead designer, RPS. Our BIM implementation plan complies with PAS 1192-2 ultimately enabling BAE to utilise data captured during the delivery phase of the project to manage optimal whole life costs of the new building.
This project is part of an eight year £300M investment programme for BAE which includes other new build facilities as well as the refurbishment of existing infrastructure in preparation for the construction of the successor to the Vanguard class.
