Overview

The new net zero school in Nuneaton has been transformed through the Department for Education’s School Rebuilding Programme, replacing outdated facilities with a modern, inclusive environment for 1,050 pupils aged 11–16.

Designed to reflect the school’s values and support every learner, teaching spaces are spread across all floors, with dedicated areas for staff and SEND support. A central dining space creates a welcoming hub for school life, while new sports pitches and landscaped areas enhance outdoor learning and wellbeing. The design was shaped in close collaboration with the school and local stakeholders to ensure it meets both educational and community needs.

Sustainability is at the heart of this project. The school is designed to be Net Zero Carbon in Operation (NZCiO), featuring solar panels, air source heat pumps, passive ventilation, and improved insulation. Biodiversity enhancements include rain gardens, native planting, and habitat creation — supporting a 9% net gain in area-based habitats.

Delivered on a live site with careful phasing and community coordination, the project reflects our commitment to building places that inspire learning, protect the planet, and strengthen local connections for generations to come.
