As part of its four-year framework with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), which began in 2018, Wates Smartspace was awarded a £5m contract to fit out 57,000 sq ft of office space as part of two office relocations in Hastings, Sussex.
The 20-week programme at two contemporary office buildings, Havelock Place, and Lacuna Place, was part of an economic development programme to create a new Priory Quarter business district in Hastings and attract jobs to the town centre. Works involved Category B fit outs across the two office spaces.
The Lacuna Place refurbishment included stripping out existing toilets and amenities and replacing with a new and improved fit out to create an open plan office environment, along with a lift upgrade. The refurbishment work at Havelock Place involved much of the ceiling being replaced for the MEP upgrade, refurbishment of the terraces to provide disabled access from the floor levels, reception upgrade and meeting and conference facilities on the ground floor.
