Based in Widnes, Halton Leisure Centre replaced the former Kingsway Leisure Centre to provide an enhanced sport and wellbeing facility.

Inside, the centre offers a comprehensive suite of facilities, including a 25‑metre, six‑lane swimming pool with an adjoining learner pool, a 100‑station gym and a four‑court sports hall.

Additional amenities include a spinning studio, group exercise studio, squash court, family‑friendly soft play area, dedicated health consultation rooms and a café that serves as a welcoming social hub. Together, these spaces create an inclusive environment that promotes active lifestyles and supports mental wellbeing.

A space designed for community wellbeing

Beyond delivering a high‑quality leisure centre, the project generated lasting benefits for the local community. In total, £14.5 million was invested in the local supply chain, creating substantial economic impact across Halton.

More than £820,000 was also invested in training and employment initiatives. Working in partnership with Riverside and Cronton Colleges, the project supported 504 students through regular site visits, providing valuable real‑world insights into the construction industry. This programme delivered £1.9 million in TOMS social value focused on education.

Halton Leisure Centre now stands as a key community asset and offers an inclusive place where people can connect, stay active and thrive.
