Simon Kennedy
Associate Director – Nature Based Solutions
Simon has over 20 years of experience in environmental science, planning, regeneration, and commercial development. Over the last four years, he has been instrumental in developing innovative frameworks addressing nutrient pollution across multiple local authority areas, facilitating sustainable growth and better land use planning.
His work has brought together local authorities, developers, and private environmental entrepreneurs to establish a nutrient neutrality credit market, enabling tens of thousands of new homes. Most recently, he has delivered new sites for nutrient mitigation and BNG units while advising local authorities, government bodies, and private providers.
Following his success in the Solent facilitating sustainable development, Simon has joined Wates to advance our ambitious strategy for delivering BNG schemes, supporting both our own projects and the wider development market.
