Awards activity within the Wates Group has been externally recognised many times over the past few years.

Already in 2011 Wates has been named Contractor of the Year, Employer of the Year and received the Judges Supreme Award, while Chief  Executive Paul Drechsler was recognised as one of the first three inaugural Construction Leaders at the Construction News Awards.

Wates has also received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, the BiTC Company of the Year Award, Project of the Year for Chelsea Academy at the Building Awards and we achieved  Platinum status in the BiTC Corporate Responsibility Index .

In 2010 Wates was named Major Contractor of the Year by Building Magazine for the second year running.

Wates entered the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For list for the first time in 2010 and received a special award for "Giving Something Back".

Our pioneering Building Futures programme received a Big Tick in the Employability category of the Business in the Community (BiTC) National Awards for Excellence 2010 for innovation, creativity and a sustained commitment to responsible business practice.

Wates was also named Contractor of the Year at the CIBSE Low Carbon Performance Awards 2010.

Wates’ CEO and Chairman, Paul Drechsler was named Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors for the London and South region.

Awards won in 2009 include Building Magazine’s Major Contractor of the Year with Paul Drechsler being named Chief Executive of the Year and Wates Living Space won Contractor of the Year at the Housing Excellence Awards 2009.

Our project managers also received recognition, with two silver, one bronze and four highly commended awards collected at the prestigious CIOB Construction Manager of the Year ceremony.

We received a RoSPA Gold Medal for health and safety for the sixth year in succession and were also named Sustainability Contractor of the Year and Social Housing Contractor of the Year.

We have been delighted to receive all of these honours and recognise that it is the hard work, dedication and commitment to succeed from our people that makes these awards possible.
