Regenerating Gorse Ride – building a sustainable future

We’re proud to be working with Wokingham Borough Council on its flagship regeneration scheme at Gorse Ride, creating a modern, sustainable community for local residents. The project will replace outdated 1970s pre-fabricated homes with 249 high-quality properties designed to meet today’s needs.

Project Stages

Phase 2A Work began in October 2022 and is progressing well, delivering the first new homes on Billing Avenue and Orbit Close.
Phase 2B Now underway, this stage will complete the transformation of the estate with additional homes and improved public spaces.

Homes Designed for the Future

Our new homes feature high levels of insulation and low-carbon technology such as air source heat pumps, helping to cut emissions and reduce energy bills. This approach supports the borough’s ambition to lower its carbon footprint while tackling fuel poverty.

The development includes a mix of homes to suit local demand, with several designed for residents with enhanced accessibility needs, including wheelchair-friendly layouts and level-access showers.

Creating Social Value

Beyond building homes, we’re committed to making a wider impact. Our social value programme has included school and college engagement, charity partnerships, student site visits, job centre placements and community activities such as wellbeing walks and summer events. We’ve also provided training and employment support to help residents develop skills and access new opportunities.

Together, we’re building more than homes – we’re building a stronger, more connected community.

Our housing regeneration scheme will see affordable homes built for the future with sustainability in mind. This includes high levels of insulation and low carbon innovations to help residents heat their homes efficiently, helping to tackle the fuel poverty crisis whilst also reducing the borough’s carbon footprint.

We are proud to be working with Wates on this ambitious project and are committed to providing the right homes at the right places for generations to come.”
