HomeNewsSupporting access to life-saving defibrillators in Cardiff
Four new public access defibrillators have been installed across Cardiff city centre, thanks to the ongoing efforts of our Wales Residential team and partners.
This builds on the successful installation of five units last year and forms part of our long-term commitment to delivering meaningful social value through Cardiff Living – our partnership with Cardiff Council to create 1,700 sustainable new homes across the city.
Working alongside Cardiff Council, Save a Life Cymru, and our supply chain partner AJ Electrical, the latest defibrillators have been installed in some of the city’s busiest locations, including The Hayes, Working Street and Penarth Road. Each device is available 24/7 and registered with The Circuit, the UK’s national defibrillator network, allowing 999 call handlers to direct people to the nearest unit in an emergency.
This initiative reflects our ongoing focus on improving community wellbeing – supporting not only the delivery of homes, but also the infrastructure that helps make places safer and more resilient.
We are delighted to have supported the installation of nine public access defibrillators and cabinets at key locations in Cardiff city centre. We have ensured that all these defibrillators have been registered on The Circuit, so that their locations are available to the Welsh Ambulance Service to allow the 999 call-takers to directly send a bystander to a registered defibrillator and help save more lives.
“This has been an excellent collaboration between Cardiff Council, Wates Group and Save a Life Cymru to improve the provision of 24/7 accessible lifesaving devices for everyone who resides in or visits the city centre. We know for every minute someone’s in cardiac arrest without receiving CPR and having a defibrillator used on them, their chance of survival decreases by 10%.”

We’re proud to support this initiative for a second year. Working with Cardiff Council, Public Health Wales and our supply chain partner AJ Electrical, we’ve helped make life-saving equipment more accessible across the city. This kind of practical, community-focused support reflects who we are at Wates and the lasting impact we aim to leave where it’s needed most.”
