James stepped into new his role at the start of May and joins Wates from NG Bailey, where he was responsible for nurturing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities. The role also saw him exceed an overall business turnover target by £15m.

Now in his new role, James will be responsible for growing Wates’ private sector client base in the region and is tasked with further expanding business operations into the East Midlands.

Boasting over 20 years of experience, James started his career as a Mechanical Engineer and progressively climbed the ranks to become Project Manager before moving to business development.

Commenting on his appointment, James said:

“As a contractor, Wates offers unrivalled levels of professionalism and expertise. My new role will see me build on this well-earned reputation, whilst enabling me to spearhead the pursuit of the many opportunities available across the region.”

James, who is a keen runner, lives in Lichfield and has a six-year-old daughter.

Wates’ work in the region currently includes the multi-million pound refurbishment of Ardstone Capital’s Phoenix House in Birmingham and Wellingborough Council’s new crematorium near Great Doddington, which was procured through Scape’s East Midlands Property Alliance (empa) framework.
