Wates Wolverhampton flats revamp commended for consideration to residents | Wates

The team delivering vital upgrades to three residential tower blocks at Chetton Green in Wolverhampton has been praised by industry regulators for its respect for the community as work progresses to the buildings’ infrastructure and fire safety.

Carried out by Wates Living Space on behalf of social landlord, Wolverhampton Homes, the £2.5m project includes the installation of new electrical, soil and vent systems and fire compartmentation.

Achieving a score of 44 out of 50 during a recent inspection by the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), the team was praised for its commitment to respectful communication with residents as well as its impeccable standards in health and safety.

Forming part of Wolverhampton Homes Strategic Construction Partnership, the work has also been commended by the CCS for its environmental performance. Wates Living Space is utilising rainwater harvesting, has recycled 98% of site waste and has also created a new community garden for residents to enjoy.

The CCS inspection closely follows confirmation of Wates Living Space’s accreditation with tenant engagement experts, Tpas, for a further three years, which also saw Wates become the first organisation to achieve a score of 100% for its tenant engagement.

“Our work in Wolverhampton is vital to ensuring Wolverhampton Homes continues to give its customers high quality homes that are efficient, safe and comfortable, but of equal importance to this is the way in which we conduct ourselves when delivering this important work. People are inviting us into their homes and an incredible amount of mutual trust must be built between ourselves and residents.

Our team in Wolverhampton, and the fantastic work being done by our Tenant Liaison Officers, is really setting the bar for our industry. I am heartened to hear the verdicts of the CCS inspectors and hope to see this standard being applied across the board at Wates Living Space, underpinning our industry leading standards in tenant engagement.”

David Morgan, Managing Director of Wates Living Space

“The findings of the recent CCS inspection for our Chetton Green estate project is testament to Wates Living Space’s commitment, competence and professionalism. We are extremely happy to be jointly working with them in providing first rate homes and quality housing services to our tenants and leaseholders.
The Chetton Green project is the first phase of our city-wide infrastructure programme that will cover our high-rise tower blocks. This includes essential work that will continue to demonstrate our ongoing commitment in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our residents. Customer service and the overall customer experience is at the heart of our business and we’re delighted that Wates share our ethos.”
