Wates lays foundations for wave of new homes in Flintshire | Wates

Wates Residential North has commenced work to create two brand new developments in Holywell and Mold, adding a further 187 homes to its joint housing portfolio in partnership with Flintshire County Council.

Work is now underway to build 27 new homes at Llys Dewi in Holywell, forming part of Flintshire Councils Strategic Housing and Regeneration Partnership (SHARP), for which Wates Residential North was appointed development partner in 2015.

A further 160 homes are also under construction at Maes Gwern in Mold, which will comprise 48 affordable homes through the SHARP initiative and 112 homes that will be available on the open market with Wates Residential Norths sales team.

The new developments form part of Flintshire Councils plans to build approximately 500 new homes across the county by 2020 to accommodate rising demand for social and affordable housing.

Since launching in 2015, Wates Residential North and Flintshire Councils partnership has seen over 150 new homes brought to the county. This recently included the completion of six new council homes at The Old Dairy at Connahs Quay.

Wates is also on site at the former Melrose Centre in Shotton, where nine new homes are set to be handed over to the council in December this year. This will be closely followed by work to develop sites at Dobs Hill and Nant-Y-Gro in the new year.

Mick Cunningham, Framework Manager at Wates Residential North, commented:

We are now three years into our partnership with Flintshire Council and we have made great headway in addressing the demand for new homes across the county. The vital thing for Wates is doing our job efficiently but ensuring that we dont ever compromise on quality and our collaborative approach with the council coupled with the great work of our Flintshire supply chain partners have enabled us to build exceptional homes for local people.

Councillor Bernie Attridge, commented:

I am pleased at the significant progress made so far in the delivery of the councils strategic housing programme.  The demand for social and affordable housing in all our communities continues to grow and it is clear that our excellent working relationship with Wates Residential North has enabled us to deliver so many new council and affordable homes in such a short space of time to help meet this demand.
