Project overview

A flagship scheme for the University of Leeds to provide a five-storey (lower ground to third) library facility, which houses a mixture of teaching and library accommodation.

The building is approximately 6,500m2 and comprises the following over the five floors:

  • Lower ground floor: Staff offices, meeting rooms and internal plant space
  • Ground floor: Main entrance/reception, café, high demand book stock and book sorting
  • First floor: Group study space, general book stock, training rooms and silent study space
  • Second floor: Group study, silent study and book stock
  • Third floor: Group study, silent study and book stock

The accommodation on the first, second and third floor wraps around a central atrium which allows users to circulate up through the building. The building also includes two main stair core, a central lift core and a feature staircase adjacent to the atrium.
