Wates are seeking a talented Pre-Construction Director to join our Construction Midlands team in Birmingham to deliver the Wates Group Pre-Construction Strategy on high profile, technically complex projects across multiple sectors. ABOUT THE ROLE As a senior business lead in Wates, this role will be responsible for sustaining a turnover in excess of £100M in a region expected to grow to £150M next year. Working closely with the Midlands Senior Leadership team you will be accountable for ensuring all pre-construction activities across the Regional Business unit align with the business plan and functional priorities set by Group Head of Preconstruction, as well as ensure compliance with governance to enable the business unit to achieve sales targets. AS OUR PRE-CONSTRUCTION MANAGER YOU WILL:  Set bid strategies for all bids with local team and implementation for winning Ensure regional pipeline & bid strategies are robust and will achieve sales targets Lead, manage and develop team of bid managers, estimators, cost planners and proposals teams Support business development activity to ensure future pipeline and actively participate in external networking whilst building effective relationships with customers Promote continuous improvement in performance in approach to business development, bidding and conversion of second stage deals. Wates Group have a new opportunity for a Assistant Proposals Manager to join a work winning team based in Leatherhead, supporting our Residential Business primarily focused on Public Sector Clients (Local Authorities and Registered Providers) tendering both contracting and development opportunities.Our Assistant Proposals Manager will support our proposals function including the production of high quality professional submission documents for all bids and developing customer-specific styles for each submission.As our Assistant Proposals Manager you will: Write persuasive, creative, compelling, factual and focused responses for bid opportunities including presentations and other quality related activities. Work with Bid & Pre-Construction Managers and wider team in development of responses that are attractive, concise and bring out the benefits of our offer. Facilitate quality question workshops and meetings with the wider bid team to share knowledge and develop a strategy to answer quality questions. Manage and communicate relevant market and competitor data Check the quality and consistency of responses in terms of themes, messages, key phrases and key words. Ensuring we learn from feedback and continuously improve our quality responses. ABOUT THE ROLE Our Planners are a valuable part of our business, the focus of this role is to provide an effective and professional planning and programming services for pre-contract and project teams. As our Planner you will: Take ownership of weekly progress updates, collation of as-built data, trend analysis, performance metrics and provide relative reports, through site walk-arounds & weekly meetings with the site team and supply chain. Produce mid/short term programmes with the site team, looking forward to avoid surprises, fully resourced and in conjunction with advice from the site team and key supply chain partners Demonstrate a full understanding of the project, Wates and client needs and propose and assess viable alternatives that could improve and benefit the projects successful completion Must be able to use P6 planning software with knowledge of NEC contracts an advantage but not essential. **Wider business uses ASTA powerproject.
