The completed project includes four teaching blocks, with soft play and sensory rooms, calm rooms, and dedicated spaces for physiotherapy and nursing care.
For teachers and support staff, the new building provides modern, flexible spaces that enable more personalised learning and care. For families and the wider community, it strengthens local specialist provision, helping to reduce the need for children to travel further afield to access the right educational support.
As our fourth SEND school project with Lincolnshire County Council, the team used experience from previous projects to plan the work carefully and avoid known challenges. Subcontractors were involved early, so the team could review the project before work started and identify any potential issues.
The school stayed open throughout construction. Work was planned to limit disruption for students, especially those with sensory sensitivities. Noisy activities, including piling and demolition, were carried out during school holidays where possible. The team also worked with the school to keep after-school clubs and community activities running.
The project team found practical ways to reduce disruption on site. A less intrusive drainage method was used, avoiding a 13-mile road diversion and helping the school continue operating as normal. The team also worked with ecology specialists to protect local wildlife and keep protected trees in place.
The completed facility provides dedicated SEND spaces that support students, staff and the wider school community.
