Overview
This new build project involved the demolition of a condemned 1940s-built facility, followed by the construction of a modern 925m² delivery office, featuring a ground-level mail sorting hall and a two-storey office block to support operations.
Despite operating within a constrained live site in a densely populated residential neighbourhood, we ensured Royal Mail’s services were uninterrupted by establishing a temporary on-site sorting office in a marquee. This minimised disruption to postal operations, which continued uninterrupted during the project, saving Royal Mail from relocation costs.
The local community benefitted from outreach initiatives, including educational visits for schoolchildren, where construction career opportunities were highlighted.
Moreover, our team contributed to a local non-profit by creating new park footpaths and enhancing the community’s public spaces.
At handover, the new facility was fully operational, ensuring a seamless transition for Royal Mail staff.
