Technical Assurance Auditor
Location: West Midlands
About the Role
Liberty Group is looking for an experienced Technical Assurance Auditor to join our SHEQ team, supporting our work across the West Midlands.
This is a key role within the business, supporting the Technical Assurance Manager (HSEQ) to ensure effective management, coordination, and delivery of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) activities across Liberty’s operational and administrative functions. The role has a strong technical and Health & Safety focus, with significant time spent auditing field operatives and supporting compliance across gas, electrical and construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out technical and health & safety audits of field operatives using Liberty’s auditing systems
- Supporting and coaching action owners to ensure corrective actions are closed out effectively
- Assisting with the delivery of health & safety initiatives across the group
- Supporting the development of HSEQ processes, procedures, forms and documentation
- Using company systems to monitor, report and evidence compliance
- Providing guidance to operational managers and engineers on HSEQ requirements, including incident investigations
- Carrying out skills assessments and audits for newly‑onboarded engineers
- Supporting safety compliance activities such as face‑fit testing, safe isolation and training
- Keeping up to date with changes in health, safety and technical legislation
- Producing clear, accurate audit reports and status updates to support business decisions
- Building strong working relationships across operational and management teams
About You
You will be an experienced technical or operational professional with a strong understanding of compliance, auditing and health & safety within gas, electrical or construction environments.
Essential / Required:
- Proven experience carrying out audits and managing corrective actions
- Strong knowledge of health & safety management on site
- Experience working with external auditors and compliance bodies
- Knowledge of operational activities within Gas, Electrical and Construction sectors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting skills
- Ability to work independently, manage workload and prioritise effectively
- Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels
- Full UK driving licence
Qualifications / Training:
- Current Domestic Gas qualifications (CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1) – Essential
- Oil qualifications (101, 105e, 600a) – Willing to work towards
- Commercial Gas (CODNCO1, CDGA1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1/TPCP1a) – Willing to work towards
- IOSH Managing Safely – Willing to work towards
- First Aid & Fire Warden – Willing to work towards
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams etc.)
