TRANSFORMING EXPERIENCES FOR EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMERS

Vital investment in critical, resilience, maintenance.

Our work for Nationwide Building Society to replace glazing to the façade of its head office in Swindon is a perfect example of such investments. A project through which Nationwide commissioned critical maintenance to prolong the life of one of its strategic properties.

Forming part of Nationwide’s Critical, Resilience, Maintenance (CRM) programme, the work to replace the glass to the atrium at Nationwide House saw our team remove aged glazing and install new glass panels.

All while keeping the building fully operational for the client and achieved without disruption or on-site incidents – a testament to both our meticulous approach to health and safety and the close working relationship fostered between us and Nationwide.

A solutions driven approach

As a major CRM project, the scale and complexity of the Nationwide House atrium installation was far greater than general maintenance or smaller scale planned preventative maintenance (PPM). Due to the size of the building and surrounding restrictions, the on-site team  couldn’t operate a ground crane with sufficient reach to install the glass panels.

A solution was sourced in the form of two Starworker aluminium cranes, the only cranes of their type in the UK, which were placed on the roof to ensure full access to the atrium. With weight restrictions on the roof also a key concern, the project team worked with engaged a specialist crane contractor, GGR Group, which  calculated weight restrictions, necessary access and the maximum weight of the glass to be lifted – all of which ensured a safe and effective solution.
