With over 40 years of operational experience, Gary Hall is the longest serving Defence Sector Lead for the southern region at Wates and a recognised specialist in the delivery of secure, complex defence and justice projects.
Joining Wates from a trade background, he has worked across every operational role in the business, building a deep understanding of programme delivery within sensitive, high‑security environments.
Gary’s experience spans both new build and refurbishment, often in live environments where security, safety and continuity are critical. He has led major schemes across the defence estate, including new F‑35 squadron accommodation and aircraft‑shelter refurbishments at RAF Marham, large‑scale residential and infrastructure upgrades at RAF Wyton and significant custodial programmes at HMP Highpoint, HMP Wayland and HMP Stocken.
Known for his calm leadership and fast, informed decision making, Gary oversees projects from bid through to handover, ensuring customer requirements are fully integrated, and that programme, sequencing, logistics, procurement and fit out are delivered with precision. He is valued for his strong stakeholder relationships, clear communication and expert understanding of the governance and protocols that define secure defence environments.
