Timothy Wates
Chairman
Timothy (Tim) Wates joined Wates in 1993 and was appointed Chairman in May 2023.
His career in Wates has been predominantly focused on housing and finance, and he has a particular interest and expertise around the interface between the private and public sectors.
He has previously served as Chairman of the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership and sat on the Advisory Board of the Cambridge Judge Business School.
He lectures on leadership and family business at the London Business School and Cambridge University.
He is a trustee of various Wates Family charities and leads the Wates Family Enterprise Trust’s philanthropic and thought leadership work on housing. He was previously a Trustee of the Clink charity. He is a Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey, and served as High Sheriff of Surrey during 2023 – 2024.
