Andrew (Andy) Wates joined the Group in 1995 and was appointed to the Board in 2011.
A member of the Audit Committee and Nominations Committee, he is also Chairman of the Wates Family Enterprise Trust. In 2023 he became Chairman of the Wates Family Council and the Family Shareholder Forum. Andy is active within Family Business UK, is a director with social enterprise No Going Back Cleaning and Support Services CIC and in 2025 was appointed nonexecutive director of Buckland Group.
He also serves on the Court of Assistants (governing body) for The Clothworkers’ Company and is a trustee of the Unicorn Theatre.
