Adetunji Lawal is Head of Energy and Carbon at Wates Group, where he leads the company’s strategy to eliminate carbon and energy waste from operations and achieve net zero by 2045. With a strong background in energy management and sustainability, Adetunji plays a pivotal role in delivering Wates’ Environmental Sustainability Plan.
Wates is driving Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions reductions, transitioning to electric and low carbon plant, and implementing zero-carbon site strategies. Adetunji works closely with supply chain partners to decarbonise procurement, with 91% of emissions linked to purchased goods and services. He also supports the rollout of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and circular economy principles to reduce material use and waste. His work is central to Wates’ mission to create thriving places, people, and planet through data-driven, impactful environmental leadership.
