Rita joins Wates as Head of Sustainability, leading our development and construction to align with industry best practice and ensure long-term performance of our schemes.

She has also been pivotal at shaping Wates’ ESG strategy bring changes with in the organisation to achieve ambitious carbon reduction targets.

With over 15 years of global experience in sustainable design, construction, and management, Rita has become an authoritative figure in shaping sustainability strategies in the built environment. Armed with three relevant degrees and a diverse professional background across multiple countries, Rita brings a wealth of technical knowledge to her role as Head of Sustainability at Wates. Her key responsibilities involve aligning the company’s performance with best practice standards, meeting a veriety of client and occupant demands, and ensuring the resilience of their legacy. She advocates for long-term, holistic considerations, investing in cutting-edge technologies, and fostering a culture that values the well-being of communities and the environment.

Rita’s dedication to driving sustainable change has been recognized within the industry at the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards (WICE) in 2022 for her work in Environment and Sustainability.
