Home News Wates Residential begins new partnership with Southwark Council to deliver new council homes

Wates Residential has agreed a new development partnership with Southwark Council to deliver hundreds of much needed council homes across the borough.

The partnership will support the council’s ongoing programme to provide safe, affordable homes for residents on its housing waiting list.

Through the agreement, we will deliver at least 343 new homes across four sites in Southwark. The sites include Wickway on the Gloucester Grove Estate, Bells Gardens Estate and Lindley Estate in Peckham, and Wyndham Road in Camberwell. All homes will be affordable, with at least 131 new council homes owned and managed by Southwark Council.

The new homes form part of a wider programme that has already seen more than 3,000 council homes completed or currently under construction across the borough. As schemes progress, local residents will be engaged on a site by site basis once early designs are complete, with proposals brought forward through the usual planning process.

We’re pleased to support Southwark Council’s record delivery of thousands of affordable, high-quality and sustainable council homes. Backed with grant funding from City Hall, these homes will make a huge difference to the lives of Londoners in the borough, as we continue to build a better and fairer London for all.”
