Nicholas Darling is the Head of Building Performance at Wates and SES Engineering Services, where he leads the integration of building physics and performance-led design across major engineering projects. With a background in mechanical and building services engineering, Nick has shaped SES’s approach to energy efficiency, low-carbon solutions, and occupancy comfort.

Nick is a strong advocate for data-driven design and works closely with teams and clients to embed building performance throughout project delivery. His experience includes delivering Net Zero Carbon Schools for the DfE and NABERS pioneer projects such as Wellington Place 11&12 – the first building in the UK to achieve a 5-star NABERS UK target rating for its agreement.
