We were proud to take part in Big Issue’s first-ever Top 100 Changemakers celebration event, recognising inspiring individuals and organisations driving positive change across communities in the UK.

As the lead sponsor of the Changemakers programme, our partnership with Big Issue reflects a shared commitment to tackling inequality, creating opportunity and building stronger, more inclusive communities.

Over 140 people attended the event at EartH Hackney on 16 June where they were welcomed by Russell Blackman, Managing Director at Big Issue, and our CEO Eoghan O’Lionaird. Chairman Tim Wates also attended, alongside ExCo members Cressida Curtis, with some of her social value team, and Anna Mann, as well as Felicity Mallum, representing the Wates Family Enterprise Trust.

The event was a great opportunity for the Changemakers to network with each other and members of the Wates team, and included a Q&A session, performances from Beats Bus and Heart n Soul (both Changemakers) and closing remarks from Nigel Kershaw, Executive Chairman and joint founder of the Big Issue. Changemakers were also presented with their awards and goody bags.

“Our purpose is reimagining places for people to thrive – and that purpose
comes to life when we connect with the communities in which we operate.

“Supporting the Changemakers is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when organisations and individuals work together towards a shared goal.

“Congratulations to everyone recognised at the event. We’re proud to support your work and the positive impact you’re making across the UK.”

Eoghan O’Lionaird

Chief Executive
