We have been recognised for our progress in the 2026 FT Climate Leaders report
Compiled by the Financial Times (FT), the ranking recognises organisations across Europe that have delivered sustained reductions in greenhouse gas emissions intensity, alongside strong climate governance and transparency.
Our inclusion (and rise in the rankings) reflects continued progress in reducing emissions and taking science-based action across both our operations and supply chain.
Since our 2019 baseline, we have delivered a significant reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions. This has been supported by improved energy efficiency and a transition to renewable electricity, as well as ongoing work to decarbonise our fleet and operations as part of our diesel phase-out programme.
Over the same period, we have also reduced our emissions intensity, demonstrating that Wates can continue to grow while lowering its carbon impact.
In addition to operational performance, the FT methodology recognises organisations with validated science-based targets (SBTs). In 2026, our targets were revalidated by the Science Based Targets initiative, covering both operational emissions and Scope 3 emissions across our value chain.
This includes continued engagement with supply chain partners to reduce emissions associated with materials, logistics and construction activity, as well as reducing carbon impacts in the homes we design and deliver.
Together, this reflects our focus on driving measurable emissions reduction and strengthening the systems, data and governance that support long-term progress – including independent verification of carbon data and alignment with recognised reporting standards.
