Havering Council and Wates Residential marked the launch of phase two of their 12 Estates Regeneration Programme with a councillors’ site visit at Chippenham Road.

The demolition of empty buildings on Chippenham Road in Harold Hill will make way for 138 much-needed new one-to four-bedroom homes. The development will incorporate shared green spaces such as community gardens, play areas, and allotments, all designed to encourage community engagement and promote wellbeing.

Split over two phases, the demolition will take approximately 14 weeks to complete.

This project is part of our Joint Venture with Havering Council, which will regenerate 12 council estates and provide 3,500 new local homes. This initiative is one of London’s biggest social housing regenerations, doubling the number of council-rented properties and affordable housing available in the borough.

It’s exciting to see the latest phase of this new development first-hand as the developers continue to work towards delivering more high-quality homes in the borough.

“There is an air of excitement as we gradually see the area being transformed to provide much-needed affordable homes, in a way that will help bring neighbours together and support their wellbeing.

“The project will also serve as part of the Harold Hill masterplan, which will ensure the right type of regeneration takes place and will help to improve the wider Harold Hill area for residents, businesses and visitors for future generations.”

Councillor Ray Morgon

Leader of Havering Council

We’re excited to be starting work at Chippenham Road and clearing the way for a development that will truly benefit the community. This marks another step forward in the Joint Venture’s regeneration agenda, and we hope it signals the commitment and purpose we bring to this programme.”
