Home News Topping out at Oasis Academy Daventry Road celebrates major milestone in South Bristol

We have marked a major construction milestone at Oasis Academy Daventry Road with a topping out ceremony, celebrating the installation of the final steel beam on the new school building.

The 900-place secondary school is being delivered in partnership with the Department for Education and Oasis Community Learning. Once complete, it will offer outstanding learning environments for young people aged 11 to 16 and serve as a hub for the wider community.

The next phase

Now 31 weeks into the main construction phase, the project is over 40% of the way through the build programme. So far, 374 tonnes of structural steel have been used across both buildings. The project team, led by Tom Reynolds, also achieved a top Considerate Constructors Scheme score of 45/45 – a clear reflection of the team’s commitment to excellence.

The school will include high-standard and specification football pitches, alongside a dynamic activity studio, sports hall, and landscaped outdoor spaces.

This milestone marks more than just progress on site – it’s a symbol of our commitment to shaping thriving, resilient communities.

“Oasis Academy Daventry Road will play a vital role in supporting young people to achieve their potential while offering a valuable new space for the wider community.”

Making a positive impact in the local community

Social value delivery has been central to the project, with the team contributing £31,705 in social enterprise spend to date.

The project has included school engagement events at Hillcrest Primary, careers talks for Oasis students, and participation in Open Doors 2025, which invited local residents to explore the site. A Community Day with Certus will also take place later this month to help renovate part of Hillcrest Primary’s playground.

It’s truly special to see the vision for this school come to life. Today’s celebration is a testament to the power of partnership and community determination.

“Together, we’re creating something truly meaningful for the young people of South Bristol.”

The academy will provide a modern learning environment and serve as a resource for the Knowle community, helping to drive regeneration, create opportunities, and support future generations.
