Our CR culture is to lead by example, empowering our people to do what they judge needs to be done. Our annual community day is just one example of this in action. In 2009, we worked with customers and suppliers on over 80 local projects to improve the quality of life for people from all walks of life.
Our CR plans are focused on three core programmes aligned with the major issues that strongly impact our customers, industry and business performance. Our three programmes are to boost skills, reduce carbon and minimise waste.
We work with like-minded organisations who will help us to make improvements and drive our core programmes.
We continue to benchmark our performance and in 2008 The Wates Group was ranked in the gold category and featured in the Top 100 Companies that Count list.

Wates' Community Day is a highlight of our year, when employees, along with our customers and supply chain partners, come together to carry out projects that benefit our local communities.

Wates understands that regenerating an area is not just about providing new or improved homes and moving on. It is about bringing long lasting change to a whole community.

Wates Giving is our charitable programme focused on making a real difference to the communities in which we live, work and build. The programme is run and funded by the Wates Family Enterprise Trust.
