The Vacancy

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join Wates with our Living Space team in Barnsley.

Key Accountabilities will include:
• Manage and price variations following contractual processes.
• Manage and liaise with the supply chain, including checking and raising material orders
• Complete on-site measurements/ take offs
• Ensure the timely receipt of quotations for materials, equipment and Sub-subcontract works, undertake commercial assessment of quotes received and ensure the timely placement of orders
• Work closely with the operations team to monitor on-site progress & ensure projects are in-line with requirements & scope
• Attending client meetings alongside the Quantity Surveyor
• Working alongside the Quantity Surveyor to procure supply chain
• Reviewing subcontractor payment applications monthly and inputting them into the Coins system


We are looking for a good work ethic and the ability to work under a Quantity Surveyor and within a team of Surveyors of different levels of knowledge.

The ideal candidate will ideally already have some experience gained in a similar role within the social housing sector or be part or fully HNC/HND or Degree qualified in a relevant subject.
