Technical Services Manager


Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Client: Hampshire Blue Light (Emergency Services)

About the Role:
WPS is seeking an experienced and driven Technical Services Manager to lead our operations team in delivering excellence for a high-profile Blue Light client in Hampshire. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of hard M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) services, compliance, and minor projects across a portfolio of emergency services properties. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact supporting critical public sector infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of supervisors and engineers delivering M&E services, statutory compliance, and project works.
  • Oversee the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring all works are completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Manage the supply chain, negotiate best value, and ensure all contractors meet Wates and client standards.
  • Prepare and present management information (MI) reports at regular client meetings, ensuring KPIs and SLAs are met.
  • Develop strong relationships with client stakeholders, consultants, and supply partners.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and robust succession planning within your team.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Health & Safety legislation and Wates’ policies.
  • Support the delivery of extra works and minor projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget control.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a similar technical/FM management role, ideally within a Blue Light or critical environment.
  • Strong technical background with a relevant qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good working knowledge of statutory compliance, H&S legislation, and CAFM/PPM systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
  • Security clearance or willingness to undergo vetting for Blue Light contracts.
