The Vacancy

Wates are seeking a talented Pre-Construction Director to join our Construction West team based across our Manchester and Birmingham offices.

The Pre-Construction Director will be accountable for ensuring all pre-construction activities across the West Business unit align with the business plan and Functional priorities set by Group. Compliant with governance and enable the business unit to achieve sales targets. Promote continuous improvement in performance in approach to business development, bidding and conversion of second stage deals.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working as part of the West’s Senior Leadership team you will be accountable for ensuring all pre-construction activities across the Regional Business unit align with the business plan and functional priorities set by Group Head of Preconstruction, as well as ensure compliance with governance to enable the business unit to achieve sales targets.

AS OUR PRE-CONSTRUCTION MANAGER YOU WILL:

  • Ensure regional pipeline & bid strategies are robust and will achieve sales targets
  • Establish bid strategies for all bids with local team and implementation for winning
  • Manage and present major bids to Construction Group Board. Ensure all other bids are settled locally in line with governance requirements
  • Lead and manage team of bid managers, estimators, cost planners and proposals teams, where appropriate.
  • Participate in National Functional Pre-Con group to assist in driving functional excellence and improvements. Implement agreed priorities in the local business unit
  • Support business development activity to ensure pipeline. Actively particpate in external networking and connecting with customers
