The Vacancy
Wates Residential are looking for a Head of MEP to develop strategies and structure within the MEP environment to support current and growth aspirations of the business.
Wates Residential is a developer contractor; we invest, develop, build and sell quality affordable housing, either contracting or in a form of partnership with Local Authorities, Registered Providers and public bodies, such as Homes England.
The Residential objective is to become a leading provider of affordable housing in London, South and Wales. We will experience significant increase in scale over the next 4 years and a shift in the balance of schemes from majority contracting to majority development with a significant amount of invested capital and over the course of the next 5 years Residential will become the main contributor of profit growth in the Group.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As the MEP specialist in the Residential business unit the role holder will develop and implement an MEP strategy to support Residential’s overall strategy. They will provide oversight & support across the building services sector (MEP) within the Wates Residential business, from project inception to construction completion and soft landing.
This role provides MEP strategic support to the regional leadership teams who have accountabilities for all elements of the performance wheel and the stages of the development process ensuring all projects are adequately supported by MEP specialists to achieve successful project delivery.
As our Head of MEP you will:
- Identify business improvement requirements and develop implementation strategies around these requirements that will help us to deliver against our performance priorities and remain agile and competitive.
- Ensure high performing MEP resource is allocated to best serve the business plan, liaising with other function leads and agreeing MEP resource, supply chain and delivery strategies.
- Promote the incorporation of modern methods of construction for MEP where viable on all projects ensuring programme, design and resource allocation are commensurate to the solution.
