Every day we are working in communities across the UK providing or maintaining homes, shops, offices, schools and much more. We are incredibly proud of the work we do beyond building to support and help the communities where we work and thrive.
Our key priorities are focused around three core activities:
- Supporting young people to raise their aspirations and skills by engaging with schools, colleges and universities. We want to attract more young people to work in this exciting sector.
- Providing training and employment opportunities for those marginalised from the workplace.
- Building sustainable local economies through our trade and investment with SMEs and the social enterprise sector.
Our people are the face of Wates and everyone plays their part in supporting our community engagement agenda. Annually our community week provides a great opportunity for teams across the UK to come together and give something back to their local community. We also support our employees by providing 16 hours paid time for people to volunteer locally.
We have strong partnerships in place to support our activities. Our partnerships with organisations like Wates Giving, Social Enterprise UK, Business in the Community, Prince’s Trust, Ixion Holdings and Career Ready enable us to focus on the areas and activities that will deliver the most impact to the local community.
