Valued at circa £7m per annum, the two-year programme will comprise the delivery of various refurbishment services to the council’s housing stock, including responsive repairs, planned works and gas servicing.
The appointment further expands Wates’ presence in the West Midlands, where it already maintains over 30,000 properties for Birmingham City Council.
Spanning a two-year period with an option to extend for a third, the Tamworth contract builds upon Wates’ existing relationship with the council, which saw the business deliver a series of maintenance works between 2008 and 2010 as part of the Decent Homes Standard.
Wates has also pledged to use the new contract to bring a boost to the local economy throughout the delivery of the programme, generating approximately 60 employment and training opportunities for local people.
