Leading social housing maintenance provider, Wates Living Space, has announced plans to grow its North East team as the business looks to enhance its presence in the region.
As part of the move, Wates Living Space will look to expand the portfolio of planned and responsive maintenance services that it delivers on behalf of local authorities and registered social landlords across Northumberland, County Durham, Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear.
The expansion plans will also enable the business to create further training and employment opportunities across the region, which will in-turn support local economic growth.
The business’ strategy to expand its presence in the North East recently saw the team hold the first in a series of ‘Meet the Buyer’ events in Stockton-On-Tees, which provided subcontractors with the chance to become one of the business’ preferred suppliers for work being delivered in the region.
As one the UK’s leaders in social housing maintenance, Wates Living Space services over 500,000 homes across the UK each year. Wates’ recent work in the North East has included a £17m home improvements programme on behalf of East Durham Homes.
The growth plans form part of the Wates Group’s intentions to double its turnover to £2bn and closely follows reports that productivity has risen by 1.7 per cent in the North East.
