The support is part of Wates’ commitment to enabling more opportunities for disadvantaged young people, and will help support the Trusts TEAM programme for 16-24 year olds.

Since the partnership began in 2014, Wates employees have raised over £300,000 for the Trust, through a variety of fundraising and volunteering efforts, from running marathons to cycle challenges, and cake sales to go-karting.

Andrew Davies, CEO, The Wates Group, commented:

“Wates is proud of its long-standing partnership with the Princes Trust and of the efforts our people make in raising funds to support its valuable work.

The Princes Trust is an organisation whose values align with our own helping to improve the life chances of young people, and to overcome barriers they may face to employment, through the opportunities to obtain skills, training and employment opportunities.

We look forward to working with the Princes Trust for the next year.”

Funds have enabled hundreds of young disadvantaged people to get into employment, further education and training by taking part in the Princes Trusts pioneering 12-week TEAM programme which helps to build confidence, skills, and practical experience.

Matt, 21, who recently completed the Team programme, said:

“TEAM was the beginning of my own self-discovery. Before, I felt like I wasnt worthy of being part of someones life and I struggled to have a relationship of any kind with anyone. But The Princes Trust changed all that. I can now make friends and feel a lot more positive about  myself and my life. I now know that I can achieve what I put my mind to and I never give up  without a fight. I have so much motivation to conquer the world, be who I want to be, and follow my dreams.”

In addition, Wates Giving continues to support the Trusts Get into Construction Programme, a two-week pre-employment programme for young people.
