Wates expands London heritage pipeline with Grade II listed House of Lords office
Wates Construction is advancing building work on the major refurbishment programme at the House of Lords Millbank House in Westminster, bringing the contractors London-based heritage contracts to a combined value of £145m.
With building work now underway, the project includes the renovation of the historic six-storey building at Great College Street, which was originally built between 1903 and 1906.
Designed by architects, Purcell Miller Tritton, the refurbished development will comprise office space with brand new mechanical and electrical services. Building work is expected to reach completion by autumn 2017.
The scheme adds to Wates extensive portfolio of heritage projects across London, which also includes the refurbishment of the Metropolitan Police Services 1930s Grade II listed Hammersmith Police Station and the V&A Museum extension at Exhibition Road.
Wates was appointed to deliver both Hammersmith Police Station and Millbank House via the Southern Construction Framework, to which the contractor secured places on all three lots for major projects in March 2015.
