Wates appoints new Managing Director of Residential North

Wates appoints Richard Shroll as new Managing Director of Residential North

Wates Group has today announced the appointment of Richard Shroll as Managing Director for its Residential business in the North.

Richard joined Wates in 1989 and throughout a distinguished career has gained wide ranging experience on a variety of projects in the commercial , education and residential sectors and latterly Richard has held a number of senior leadership roles within the group, the most recent being Group Construction Director.

Today’s appointment follows the recent internal restructure of the business, which saw Wates Residential North move into Wates Construction Group, taking advantage of the synergies to be gained from complementary skill sets and geographical presence.

Richard replaces Joanne Jamieson who has left the business to pursue new opportunities.

Richard will bring his extensive leadership experience to this business after a long and successful career with Wates. His passion for health and safety, excellence in the quality of our delivery and importantly the development of our people, makes him an ideal fit for this position.”

In addition, Chris Brittain has been appointed as the new Commercial Director, reporting directly to Richard. Chris was formerly Regional Commercial Director for Wates Construction North, where he played a key role in both the integration of Shepherd Construction and the success of Wates’ Northern Construction business.

Wates Residential, part of the Wates Group, is one of the North’s leading developers, with over 1,500 new homes currently in construction. The Wates Residential portfolio currently includes Butler’s Crescent in Dudley, Flintshire Council’s strategic housing and regeneration programme and New Lodge in York along with other significant projects in Coventry, Rotherham, Hull, Manchester and Mansfield.  Operating across the region, it is focused on working with local authority and housing association partners in their local communities to build more and better homes.
