The two schemes have seen Wates apply its long established expertise in delivering high quality care facilities while providing a boost to its portfolio of senior living projects.
The Signature Sunninghill Care Home in Berkshire, Ascot Grange, is a new build consisting of 96 private apartments, varying from studios to one-bedroom suites, with 23 offering support for individuals requiring specialist dementia care.
The Signature Camberley Care Home in Surrey, Pembroke House, involved the demolition of a five-storey office building and the subsequent construction of a four-storey care home with 92 bedrooms. The home’s town centre location represents a new concept for Signature, and it also boasts a theme of secret gardens throughout the upper levels of the project.
Both developments offer exceptional residential and nursing care combined with Signature’s luxurious facilities and services. Amenities include a cinema room, hair salon, and therapy room, bistro restaurant and library.
Throughout the projects, Wates and Signature have fulfilled a joint pledge to ensure the building work brings with it benefits to the two areas. At Sunninghill, activities included donating old pallets to Earlywood Scouts Camp for use in campfires, refurbishing parts of Cordes Hall in Sunninghill village and holding a Time Capsule competition with local schools, with the winning submission buried at the handover ceremony in May.
In Camberley, the project team supported the Rainbow Café, a charity which helps people over 50 who may be feeling isolated, lonely, or suffering from dementia. Wates held a Christmas volunteering event at the café to raise funds, and also donated £500 for the café to purchase a music license.
Support was also offered to Stokes Lodge, a neighbouring retirement complex, with the Wates team donating time to repaint the building’s interior and the external windows.
Everyone at Wates has thoroughly enjoyed once again working with Signature Senior Lifestyle to deliver these two luxurious care home facilities. Both properties demonstrate the different approaches our projects with Signature can take – one is an entirely new building in the quiet suburbs of Berkshire, whereas the other involved demolition and subsequent new-build in a busy Surrey town centre. What both have in common is that they will provide the senior living communities in the areas a new offering that will provide comfort, security and improve quality of life.”
