Wates Construction has expanded its regional team with the appointment of Leanne Evans as Project Director in a move to grow and enhance its project delivery across the East of England.

Leanne joins Wates having gained over 20 years of industry knowledge in a career which began following completion of a BSc Hons in Building, Construction and Management. A CIOB member, Leanne boasts a wealth of on-site experience, including project leadership, senior project management and contract management roles.

As Project Director, Leanne will take each project from tender stage to project development and delivery right through to client aftercare.

The appointment marks a significant step in Wates’ strategy to identify new business opportunities across the region as well as enhancing delivery of its current project base and continuing to improve client experience. This currently includes RAF Marham in King’s Lynn, HMP Stocken in Rutland, the Quadram Institute in Norwich and eight various schools projects across the Northern Home Counties and East.

Leanne said:

“Wates has an excellent reputation in the industry and I am very proud to be joining the team. I feel my experience, which includes modular construction particularly in education, combined with Wates diverse portfolio of projects will both benefit from and develop my expertise. It is my belief that in order to achieve exceptional results you must work collaboratively, be it with colleagues, peers or clients, and this is very much the work ethic that Wates adopts.

As a family business, Wates is committed to investing in and supporting the industry’s next generation and this is one of my great passions, particularly when it comes to encouraging women to consider a career in construction. It is an industry full of opportunity and I very much look forward to working with Wates to inspire the future workforce.”

Ian Vickers, Managing Director, Wates Construction Home Counties, commented:

“It is a pleasure to welcome Leanne to the Wates team. She is already demonstrating her value to live projects through her passion, experience and drive to excel in all that she does. Additionally, there is still a huge gender disparity in the construction industry that needs addressing, and I hope the presence of team members like Leanne in senior roles will provide inspiration to more women to think about a career in construction.”
