A modern school building accommodating 720 students aged 11 to 18 years built to a high specification, blending original features with new-build extensions.

Works included a seven-storey concrete framed building with large areas of curtain walling, deep basement excavation to accommodate underground facilities including seminar hall, sports hall with changing rooms and music studio with major acoustic treatments, and a roof-top Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).

To ensure minimal disruption to curriculum delivery and exam periods, 2,500m² of temporary school accommodation was installed at project outset.

With limited storage space and restricted access to the site, we managed challenging logistics with an agreed management plan with Camden Council detailing planned construction activity and vehicular traffic movements.

Regular meetings with an active local residents association were held to explain the sequencing of construction and expected impact, resulting in no official complaints during construction.

From the start of the project, Wates was great to work with. The new building has surpassed our expectations. This has been a very good experience for us.”
