Overview

In January 2018, Wates Living Space commenced a 39 month contract with a value of £10.3m to undertake electrical upgrade works to 11,250 properties across the North East and North West areas of the city. Sheffield City Council’s aim is to ensure installations across all of its housing stock remain compliant with current 18th Edition electrical regulations.

With a key contract objective being to improve local employment and skills, a range of initiatives have been implemented within the community. This has helped to maximise opportunities for engagement and to date has seen the recruitment of two long-term unemployed people into full time positons on the project, apprenticeship and work experience placements and educational curriculum activities across a wide age range.

Positive feedback has been received by Sheffield City Council on both quality and project progress.
