A new Academy on the Isle of Portland, created through the major refurbishment of Maritime House, formerly an Admirality Underwater Weapons Establishment built, to a constrained budget and programme on a live site.

This new, purpose-built campus, replaces four existing schools and colleges spread across the area. It brings all of the centres of education together into a single site and adding a 6th form centre, performing arts theatre, heated swimming pool and sports hall.

  • DfE Framework Procurement

Initial cost assumptions did not reflect the true condition of the existing building and significant works were required to rectify structural, service and stonework issues, putting immense pressure on the budget and programme.

We worked closely with our customer through open book discussions, enabling tough but informed decisions to bring to project back to budget.
