Refurbishment of existing Victorian school building and construction of a high quality new 3-storey school with associated external works to a tight programme. The project merges the longest established independent school in Newcastle “Church High” with the Central Newcastle High School.

Works included part demolition of existing buildings to incorporate new extensions at multiple levels, Section 106 highways activities and extensive landscaping and external works to retaining walls and sports provision.

Meeting the programme required work outside of normal hours and weekends. We proactively liaised with local residents, engaging with them though monthly residents meetings, public suggestion boxes and surveys and direct access/contact to our site team.

Recipient of the Lord Mayor Special Award 2018, recognising the building as an exemplar of architecture and environmental design.
