Wates Developments

Wates Developments was granted outline planning permission in December 2015 for up to 95 new homes, including the provision of 40% affordable housing on this light industrial and warehouse estate in the leafy residential suburb of East Molesey, Surrey.

The consent came after six years of actively promoting the site through the planning system and working closely with the local community, local Councillors and Officers to produce a scheme that was supported unanimously at the Planning Committee.

The team successfully demonstrated that the 7.5 acre site was no longer suitable for its use as Strategic Employment Land and that it represented an excellent opportunity to bring forward much needed, well designed, sustainable new housing in the local area. The provision of 40% affordable housing, representing 38 of the total number of homes was a key benefit in this affluent area in which many are priced out of the market.

Following technical work, the site will be progressed through reserved matters planning during which the detail of the scheme will be drawn up in close consultation with the local community and Council.
